Wellington, FL- Instead of performing under the stars Saturday night, Ashley Holzer and her 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood, Pop Art, waited until torrential downpours abated at the Zada Enterprises WEF Dressage Classic last weekend. Easter Sunday morning found this team ready, in spite of the delay, to handily win the Absorbine® Myoplast® Leading Rider and Leading Horse Awards. Winning the Absorbine Myoplast honors for a second consecutive time, the pair posted a high score of 76.80%.
Holzer is seeking to represent Canada in the 2008 Olympics. Keeping this mindset, Holzer and her mount wrapped up the CDI Grand Prix Freestyle with the high score gleaned from five judges. Fellow Canadian Jacqueline Brooks came in second with her partner, Gran Gesto, scoring 72.20%.
Although the rain caused the Saturday night cancellation, dressage fans arriving from Europe and all parts of the United States and Canada were on hand at the International Arena at 8 a.m. Easter Sunday morning in support. The musical freestyles were performed flawlessly as the new footing in the arena provided horses and riders with perfect support.
